Experimental agony -

Third attempt at an experiment to evaluate accuracy of three sensors. Still no good data. It's amazing how hard running an experiment can be to get the data one needs, accurately and reliably.

This time, the threshold of the mouth guard and the skin patch sensor was not low enough for the headers to recorded on it. Also there seems to be a lot of issues to calibrate the stereo video from the two high speed cameras.

Lesson learnt, before we do the experiment again we should have a checklist to verify everything is in order, too much that can possibly go wrong!

But at least I get to do soccer headers at work :)

Progress report - Surya and the Brain Stethoscope

Of the two fledging companies I am working on right, Surya had its little moment in the sun at the BASES Product Showcase today. While we were grossly under prepared, the attention the idea generated and our ability to even have a final prototype by the end of it, were both commendable efforts. I really believe we are onto something here, but team dynamics and organization needs to improve drastically, if something/anything is to become of it. No pictures from the showcase yet, but will put some up very soon. I finally finished the first draft of the CAD for the brain stethoscope, and it looks pretty cool if I might say so myself. Here are a few images of what it might look like.

Some future to-do's for both projects

1. Get the circuitry for the lamp lighting onto nice shape. Get the arduino code ready for parsing through a string of 1's and 0's so we can light more than one lamp if needed (would be a much cooler demo)

 2. Get the CAD into 3d printable shape. Have to figure out the tolerances for the interference fit of the base plate as well as sketch out the grooves on the base plate for a nice fit of the electrodes.

Oh, and another video person has been contacted for the sunny day video, lets hope this one works out :)

This blog is officially back open. I am also transforming it into a research/work diary with the occasional writing tidbit thrown in :) No one needs to know, but tracking progress on the hundreds of projects that I want to accomplish in life cannot be a bad thing.
